Tarte "Clean Slate" Primer

I am a HUGE Tarte Cosmetics fan! Not only are most of their products environmentally conscientous they are high quality and pocket friendly. I have several Tarte reviews in the works including my ALL TIME FAVORITE eyeliner.
This post, however, is in honor of Tarte’s 12 Days of Savings Promotion. Each day leading up to December 25th, Tarte is discounting one fabulous product!

Today’s sale features Tarte’s Clean Slate Primer at an AMAZING $13.50, 50% Off!
Since I have several Tarte faves, I had been dying to get my hands on this. As I have said before, I have extremely oily skin and have tried dozens (upon dozens) of face primer to combat “the shinies”.

Tarte says “This natural primer helps makeup stay in place longer while preventing creasing in fine lines and wrinkles. Unlike other primers, clean slate™ contains natural fruit and plant derived extracts to treat, protect, sooth and hydrate the skin.”
I did NOT read that before I purchased it. I see the word “sale” on go kinda crazy.

Review: I used “Clean Slate” three different times to no avail. The primer applied smoothly, it feels a little wet. My makeup did literally sit on top of my skin and not sink in but I was an oily, slimy mess within an hour. If I had read the description I would have realized that I am not the target audience for the product.

Rating: I am sure this is the ideal product for dry or combo skin just not for me. I still LOVE you, Tarte!!!

If you fall in the above categories, RUN, RUN to Tarte.com today and pick up one for HALF OFF! Use code: cleanslate5 (While supplies last!)

By the way, if you would like to try Clean Slate you can totally have mine!

I will send it out free of charge to the first person that sends me an email to nicnacbeauty0704@yahoo.com.

Nude SkinCare Miracle Mask

Nude Skincare Miracle Mask, $70.00

A facial mask that touts instant radiance and skin-brightening results.

Sephora says "Nude Miracle Mask exfoliates and stimulates skin for a revitalized complexion. It contains natural alpha hydroxyl acids, which benefit the skin with their light exfoliating and moisturizing properties, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, skin lightening and firming, and increased collagen production."

Review: What did it do for me? Nothing.... It wasn't bad, it wasn't good. I used the entire container waiting for the radiance and I swear I did not see a difference whatsoever. But it did not break me out so that's a plus! Maybe I am not the target audience.

Rating: For $70 Bucks, "keep looking"!
Side Note & Disclaimer: I have oily, very rough, thick skin. The mask may perform differently on you. I have not been compensated in any way for this review but I did not pay for the mask. (I actually won it from a blog contest hosted by the beautiful Carissa, at Hooked On Beauty). While I am extremely thankful for her generousity I am sad the product did not work for me.

SkinAgain Pigment Correct

Back in November, I ran across a blog for a company called SkinAgain, http://www.skinagain.com/.

SkinAgain was established in 2003 in Carlsbad, CA. We are a founder and leader in the production of skin care products that are infused with the Energies of healing elements. We believe that all living things thrive on Energy and movement, including a simple skin cell. Life and health are sustained through movement; a natural flow of absorption, elimination and balance. SkinAgain researches ways of harnessing Energy and subtle Energy with the sole purpose of applying them to skin care products. We develop products that slow down the aging process because they jump-start the Energy of skin cells. Skin cells are then motivated to do their job: move nutrients in, move waste out and maintain pH balance.
SkinAgain refuses to use chemicals, dyes, fragrances or any other irritant in their custom formulas. We implement eco-friendly standards and prints only on PCR (post consumer recycled) packaging.

The developer of one of their new products, Pigment Correct, ($32.00), blogged it's effectiveness for women of color in reducing hyperpigmentation and dark marks. They awarded a free full size jar of Pigment Correct to the first 20 responses and luckily I was one of them!

Review:
I used Skinagain's pigment correct twice a day for thirty days. The consistency of the formula is a little bit thinner than a regular cream but thicker than a serum. It spread very easily and only a bit is need for the entire face.
After washing and/or exfoliating my face, I rinse well but always leave my face a little damp before applying the cream. I do this to help the products absorb better and because it helps to not use so much product. The product absorbs pretty face and I let dry completely before applying any other products.

Results:
I can definitely see a difference in the clarity of my skin. The right side of my face has a medium sized patch of hyperpigmentation from a "chemical peel gone wrong" that has lightened up dramatically. I also had some smaller blemishes from my monthly acnes attacks that have all almost disappeared. I have incredibly oily, sometimes acne prone skin and this did not cause any excessive oilness or break me out at all.

Rating: I definitely give this product a "run and buy"!

Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this review but I did recieve the product for free as explained above.

Starting Over!

Hello Beauty Chicas!

It's been almost a year since I last posted and I have decided to start over and concentrate on what is near and dear to my heart. Beauty Products!!! So I am gearing the blog exclusively (yeah, right!) towards beauty product reviews!

I decided to close my last beauty blog for a couple of different reasons. One, I wasn’t sure where I wanted to go with the format of it, eg. Fashion, beauty, or gossip. Secondly, I received some EXTREMELY psychotic comments and then emails which freaked me out! Third, my husband was deployed right in the thick of it and I became just too depressed to write anything.

I recently decided to start over! Thanks to my twitter gals (especially @MorenaBarbie, that encouraged me the most). I am going to write about what I am most passionate about “BEAUTY PRODUCTS”! Anyone that knows me knows that I am a BBG (Brown Beauty Girl)! My bathroom, bedroom, and closet are overflowing. It’s really ridiculous! It’s all in an effort in personal journey to find my “Holy Grail” in each product category.

I am very budget savvy so I will post any deals I run across whether they are beauty focused or not (hey, a SALE is a SALE is a SALE).
I will also be sponsor a couple of giveaways, some extremely easy to win and some will take some work on the readers part. More to come on that…….

My disclaimer! I am not a beauty editor, I am not an aspiring beauty editor, I work in Human Resources and I love my job. This blog is just to feed my own personal need to blab about my greatest beauty finds or kick ass sales! My reviews are my personal opinions about each product and I do not get paid to write a favorable (or even unfavorable) review. I have purchased the majority of my arsenal myself and if I receive a product for free, I probably won it. But I promise to tell you.

Please remember, all of the products I love may not necessarily work for you so use your own judgement.

I am open to all comments, rants, praises, opinions, etc. (of the non-psychotic variety) from the peanut gallery!

I hope you like the new format and more to come, very soon.....

Catch up on your reading.....
